Why Didn't Anyone Tell Me?: Perinatal Somatic Tools and Childbirth Preparation for Working with Difficult Births

Picture
Every woman wants a healthy baby, and the best birth possible.  Many couples take childbirth preparation, tour the facility, and read books.  When birth is not straightforward, many women and their partners experience stress and often post traumatic stress.  Studies now show that between one quarter and one third of birthing women report their experience as traumatic, and one in four of those women carry the signs and symptoms of post-traumatic stress.  In this workshop, Midwife Lois Trezise (CNM) and Perinatal Trauma Specialist Kate White (LMT, RCST, SEP) offer information and tools for when births are not straight forward.  Many women who have difficult births often ask, Why didn't anyone tell me?  In this workshop, we will prepare you with tools so that you can help prepare yourself or your birthing families for working with overwhelming experiences.

Dates: August 5, 2017
